Last Friday’s Ronald Mayinja at 47 ” Old is Gold” Concert brought Ronald Mayinja ‘s distinct voice and catchy rhythms vibes at Kampala Serena hotel, marking his first show in years.
Despite tickets selling at shs 100,000 ordinary and shs 3000,000 table,fans filled Serena’s Victoria Hall to capacity proving that good music is good music.Some critics had said Ronald Mayinja would not get the numbers in ” this economy” and alignment with ruling government NRM ,but the old man who last held a concert years ago proved his naysayers wrong.
At 9 Pm Ronald Mayinja came to the stage,to loud screams from excited fans . unlike other shows or concerts where we see many curtain raisers ,this was not the case with the Ronald Mayinja at 47 ” Old is Gold ” Concert.
The show has neither MC not Curtain – raisers and Ronald Mayinja performed for two hours, giving his fans the best of his musical self.
The show was completely sold out by 7:00Pm the was already full to capacity and some revellers were closed outside since the Africana music icon concert brought crowds beyond capacity proving love beyond heights from fans.
Many popular figures and dignitaries showed their support to Ronald Mayinja by attending the concert while others managed to step on the stage and perform including Maureen Nantume, Jose Chameleone , Alien Skin and Ssemakula , among others.
