The Greater Masaka and Sembabule territorial police have detained two sons, one of whom serves as a soldier, in connection with the tragic murder of their 64 year-old father. Police spokesperson Fred Enanga revealed that the incident occurred on February 22, 2024, where the victim’s lifeless body was discovered hanging from a jackfruit tree, under circumstances deemed highly suspicious.
The narrative of events begins to unfold around 9:00 pm on February 22, when Gracious Nyesiga, one of the sons, reportedly encountered his elder brother, Enock Asiimwe, attired in military uniform and wielding a firearm. Enanga disclosed that Nyesiga allegedly facilitated Asiimwe’s scheme by providing him with a motorcycle and instructing him to incite turmoil at home, thereby creating an opportunity for Asiimwe to execute their father and gain control of the family’s assets.
According to Enanga, Nyesiga purportedly succeeded in overpowering their father, dragging him beneath the jackfruit tree, and subsequently strangling him to death. The victim’s lifeless body was then hanged from the tree in what appeared to be a staged suicide, concealing the sinister truth behind the heinous act.
Initially, the two suspects reported their father’s disappearance to the authorities at Sembabule Central Police Station. However, suspicions arose when Nyesiga, a 37-year-old Corporal of the Reserve Force residing in Forkland LCI, Masaka city, returned home on February 25, 2024, claiming to have stumbled upon his father’s body suspended from the tree.

Subsequent investigations by law enforcement uncovered inconsistencies in the sons’ testimonies, prompting the arrest of both brothers on suspicion of their father’s murder. What initially seemed like a tragic suicide has now transitioned into a full-fledged criminal investigation, as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding the father’s untimely demise.
