Nelson Ssekantuka rediscovered his fine-scoring form, bagging a brace as Bright Stars beat Gaddafi 4-0 at the Kavumba in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) game played on Easter Sunday.

Ssenkatuka, who was tied on 11 goals with Muhammad Shaban (KCCA) and Dennis Omedi (Kitara) has now moved clear of the pair, going to 13 goals – top of everyone on the goal scorers chart this season.

At Kavumba, Ssenkatuka put the hosts ahead in the 38th minute, converting from the spot after Nurdin Bunjo was brought down in the forbidden area.

In the 77th minute, Cleophus Fiat doubled Bright Stars’ lead, before Frank Kizanyiro Kato got their third in the 83rd minute and Ssenkatuka sealed their big win with the fourth in the 89th minute.

Ssenkatuka hadn’t found the back of the net in the past five league games, since he scored the only goal as Bright Stars beat Wakiso Giants 1-0 at Kavumba back in February.

Ssenkatuuka has now scored three goals against Gaddafi this season, two in the second round, plus the one in the first round. He also has a goal each against URA, Mbarara City, Busoga United, SC Villa, UPDF, Kitara and Wakiso Giants, plus a hatrick against Arua Hill.

The Sunday result sends Bright Stars to 10th position on the table, with 28 points from 22 games – four places and eleven points above relegation.

For Gaddafi, who have not registered a win in any of their last eight competitive games, they will stay relegation candidates with 21 points from 13 games – just a place and points above the red line.

The Soldier Boys last won when they beat BUL 2-1 on January 3, and they are still looking but haven’t found their winning touch, drawing just twice and losing the other six!

Since that win in the Jinja derby, Gadaffi went on to lose 3-0 to Express and 1-0 to URA holding Vipers to a goalless draw.

The Soldier Boys then lost 2-0 to Kitara in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, drew 1-1 with Busoga United, lost 1-0 to NEC and were humiliated 5-0 by Mbarara City before losing 4-0 to Bright Stars today.
