Suspected Food Poisoning Hospitalizes 26 Kalas Girls’ School Pupils

Twenty six pupils from Kalas Girls’ primary school in Amudat district, are receiving medical attention at Amudat hospital due to suspected food poisoning.

Reportedly, on March 6th around 11:00 pm, these students began experiencing stomachaches, throat, and heart pains after consuming cookies discovered wrapped in polythene paper within one of their classrooms.

Michael Longole, the spokesperson for Mt. Moroto regional Police, informed that upon receiving distressing information from the school’s head teacher, law enforcement promptly responded.

The affected pupils were swiftly transported to Amudat hospital for necessary treatment. Longole indicated that as of now, 22 pupils have been discharged, while four others remain under medical observation.

Longole further stated that an investigation has been initiated, with a general inquiry file opened to gather additional details regarding the incident. He urged the public to come forward with any pertinent information to assist in the ongoing investigations.

It’s worth noting that Kalas Girls’ school serves as a refuge center in Amudat district for girls fleeing from child marriages and female genital mutilation.
