Hoima Central Police Station currently holds two suspects, Nicholas Ayesiga and Immaculate Natukunda, both bar operators residing in Karungu LC1, Kibugubya Parish, Kyabigambure Sub-county, Hoima District.
They are accused of murdering David Tumusiime, 25, a resident of Kyarushesha Village, Kyangwali Sub-county, Kikuube District. The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning. According to information from Uganda Radio Network (URN), on Sunday night around 11 p.m., Tumusiime visited a bar operated by the suspects, consumed alcohol, and later rented a room at the same establishment to sleep.
However, on Monday morning, his lifeless body was discovered dumped by the roadside in the same village, with severe cuts to the head and neck. Karungu LC1 Chairperson, Pesweri Katuramu, reported that passersby alerted him upon finding the body in a pool of blood. He promptly notified Hoima police, who responded immediately and launched an investigation at the crime scene.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine Region police spokesperson, confirmed that both suspects were apprehended to assist in the investigation. The deceased’s body was transported to Hoima City Mortuary for pending postmortem examination. Hakiza further stated that upon completion of the police inquiry, the detained suspects will be presented before court to face murder charges.
