Nakaseke district Police have managed to rescue two young girls who were abducted by a male domestic worker in Kirangazi, Ngoma sub-county. The victims, Phionah Tusingwire, aged 4, and Patience Tarindeka, aged 5, both students of Apex Model Primary School and residents of the specified area, were taken by the suspect, identified as Sande, on March 1, 2024, around 10:00 am.

Preliminary investigations reveal that on the same day, at approximately 7:00 am, the suspect, who worked as a casual laborer, accompanied the children to school on a motorcycle as usual but failed to return. The worrying absence was discovered by the victims’ mother when she sent her elder son to school to check on them, only to find the children and the casual worker missing.

Upon receiving the distressing report, Kirangazi Police Station was promptly informed, and both Nakaseke Police and Savana Police region responded swiftly, initiating a search for the missing girls and the motorcycle. Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima disclosed that following the abduction, the suspect began demanding a ransom of 35 million Ugandan shillings from the victims’ father through phone calls made using specific telephone numbers.

Utilizing sophisticated tracking technology, the Police were able to trace the suspect’s movements to Kiboga district and subsequently to Kyankwanzi. Due to the relentless efforts of the Police tracking team and the cooperation of vigilant community members, the suspect abandoned the children near the Kaabale Bridge, which serves as a boundary between Kyankwanzi and Nakaseke districts.

Furthermore, the red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle, registered as UFB 009B, was recovered a short distance from where the children were found.

Following their rescue, the girls have been reunited with their family, bringing immense relief to their loved ones. Meanwhile, the Police continue to actively pursue the suspect, aiming to bring him to justice for his reprehensible actions.
