Tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia Appointed Mentor And Coordinator Of Uganda’s Lohana Community For 2026-2031

Kampala-Renowned Ugandan business magnate Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman of the Ruparelia Group and Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, has been appointed as Mentor and Coordinator (Prabhari) of the Shree Lohana Mahaparishad Uganda Team under Overseas Zone 6 for the 2026-2031 leadership term.
The appointment was announced last week as part of the new leadership structure of the Lohana community in Uganda, a chapter of the global Shree Lohana Mahaparishad organization, which has an estimated membership of over three million people worldwide. Uganda’s chapter currently comprises approximately 550 members.
The newly appointed leadership team will oversee community affairs, cultural preservation, social welfare initiatives and organizational coordination across Uganda during the next five-year term.
The Leadership Team
The Uganda Team for 2026-2031 comprises:
• Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia – Prabhari (Mentor and Coordinator)
• Kiran Bhimjiyani – Uganda Zonal President
• Bhaskar Kotecha – Uganda Zonal Vice President
• Sanjay Thakkar – Uganda Zonal Secretary
• Janak Gadhiya – Kampala City President
• Piyush Kotecha – Jinja City President
• Sanjay Hathi – Mbale Town President
Members of the community have congratulated the newly appointed leaders and expressed optimism that the team will strengthen unity, enhance member engagement and expand the community’s contribution to national development.
Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia is one of East Africa’s most prominent entrepreneurs and investors. He serves as Chairman of the Ruparelia Group, a diversified business empire with interests spanning real estate, hospitality, education, insurance, agriculture and property development.
Under his stewardship, the Ruparelia Group has grown into one of the largest privately owned conglomerates in the region, employing thousands of people and operating some of Uganda’s most recognizable businesses and institutions.
Beyond his corporate achievements, Dr. Ruparelia serves as the Honorary Consul of Nepal to Uganda, a role through which he has helped foster diplomatic, business and cultural relations between the two countries.
He is also widely respected for his philanthropic work through the Ruparelia Foundation, which has supported numerous initiatives in education, healthcare, sports development, youth empowerment and community welfare.
His appointment as Mentor and Coordinator of the Lohana community is expected to bring a wealth of leadership experience, strategic insight and organizational capacity to the community’s activities over the next five years.
The Shree Lohana Mahaparishad is among the world’s largest umbrella organizations representing the Lohana community, connecting members through cultural, educational, charitable and social programs across multiple continents.
With more than three million members globally and a growing footprint across Africa, Europe, Asia and North America, the organization remains dedicated to preserving Lohana heritage while promoting unity, networking and socio-economic development among its members.
The newly elected Uganda leadership team is expected to play a pivotal role in advancing these objectives and strengthening the community’s presence and impact within Uganda.
