Uganda Cranes Squad For Ghana, Comoros Friendlies Named

Uganda Cranes Head coach Paul Put has announced a 26-man squad, featuring 14 foreign-based players, to compete in two friendly matches in Morocco against Comoros and Ghana.

Among the notable selections are debutants Carl James Mujaguzi from Athlone, Ireland, and Toby Sibick from Hearts, Scotland.

Additionally, goalkeeper Giousue Bellagambi and Moses Opondo, representing Huddersfield and Horsens respectively, mark their return to the squad.

FUFA confirmed the absence of Captain Khalid Aucho and Abdul Aziizi Kayondo due to injuries they sustained, despite their initial summons.

The first encounter is scheduled against Comoros on March 22, 2024, followed by a match against Ghana on March 26, 2024.

These friendly matches serve as vital preparation for Uganda Cranes as they gear up for a hectic international schedule this year. Qualifiers for the AFCON 2025 and the resumption of the FIFA World Cup 2026 campaign loom ahead, making these matches crucial for fine-tuning the team’s strategies and cohesion.
