Ugandan cross country athlete Jacob Kiplimo has made history again, by claiming the world gold medal at the World Cross Country Championships.
The race was held in Belgrade, Serbia. Jacob Kiplimo’s win came shortly after him racing in the 10km race and emerged the winner in just 28:09.
Ethiopia’s Berihu Aregawi finished second in 28:12 to win the silver while Kenya’s Benson Kiplangat finished third in 28:14 to win the bronze medal.
Jacob Kiplimo has won the gold medal for the second time in a row, having also won last year’s 2023 Bathurst Olympics.
Other Ugandans in the race included Joshua Chepetegei in sixth place, Dan Chebet in 11th place, Hosea Kiplangat in 13th place and Martin Magengo Kiprotich in 14th place.
Uganda was represented in the event by 27 runners, including men and women, who competed in the Under-20 race.
Uganda has won consecutive gold medals in the event,since 2019 when Joshua Chepetegei won, then Jacob Kiplimo also won 2 consecutive times.
