UPC President also the Lira City East member of parliament, Hon. Jimmy Akena has started canvassing for votes for the party flag bearer, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, in the by-elections for the Women Parliamentary seat for Dokolo District, Lango Region.
Business and traffic was put on standstill this afternoon as the campaign trail for the UPC flag bearer as Akena addressed the UPC supporter’s rally in Amwoma sub-county where Aguti held her maiden campaign.
He called for equity,rule of law and good governance in the country which he said the UPC candidate, Nyangkori and the party stand for.
“I Want a Uganda where every citizen is valued irrespective of societal status. I want a government that enhances everyone’ s ability. We are seeking equitable development throughout Uganda. Our government will not accept any kind of discrimination,” Akena said.
The legislator further urged the people of Dokolo to continue mobilizing for votes and turn up in big numbers on Thursday March 21, to vote for the UPC candidate, Sarah Aguti Nyangkori such that she wins and can be in position to represent them and deliver better services to the region.
The Dokolo district Woman MP seat fell vacant following the death of for er MP, Cecilia Ogwal who died on 18th January, 2024. The Electoral Commission as mandated started preparing for the by-election and polling for the suitable candidate to replace Ogwal is due on Thursday next week.
Sarah Aguti Nyangkori, President Jimmy Akena and other party leaders who are on the campaign trail are expected to address another rally in Dokolo subcounty this afternoon.
