Kateshumbwa, a close ally of Among, serves on Parliament’s Budget Committee and the Committee on Finance, Planning and Economic Development, placing him at the centre of key government spending and financial oversight processes now attracting attention from investigators.
The widening corruption and illicit enrichment investigations linked to former Speaker Anita Annet Among are now increasingly focusing on some of her closest political associates, with State Minister for Finance Henry Musasizi and Sheema Municipality MP Dicksons Kateshumbwa emerging as key persons of interest, according to highly placed security sources.
The development came as detectives and security operatives continued searching Among’s Nakasero residence past midnight Saturday in an operation led by CID and supported by the Uganda People’s Defence Forces and other security agencies.
Sources said investigators are examining alleged financial networks, procurement dealings and coordination between politically connected figures inside Parliament and government ministries as part of the expanding probe into alleged corruption, money laundering and illicit enrichment.

The investigations are also expected to spread deeper into the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development, where Musasizi serves as State Minister for Finance.
Security insiders say the probe is increasingly being treated as part of a wider crackdown on what authorities suspect are entrenched corruption networks operating across Parliament and government institutions.
The investigations intensified after Inspector General of Government Aisha Batala Nalule confirmed receiving a complaint accusing Among of possible failure to fully declare wealth and assets under the Leadership Code Act.
The corruption probe is unfolding alongside a dramatic political fallout over the Speakership race after the Patriotic League of Uganda led by Chief of Defence Forces Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba withdrew support for Among and endorsed Defence Minister Jacob Oboth Oboth for Speaker.

Muhoozi has repeatedly posted anti-corruption messages in recent days, warning against “thieves” inside government systems and calling for public resources to benefit ordinary Ugandans rather than powerful individuals.
Neither Musasizi nor Kateshumbwa had publicly commented by midnight as security operations around Among’s residence continued.
