Schools from across Uganda have started arriving at Seroma Christian High School ahead of the 2026 USSSA Ball Games I, setting the stage for one of the country’s biggest school sports events.
The early arrivals began checking in as early as 8:00am, with teams warmly received by the host institution in an atmosphere marked by organization and heightened security.
Authorities have deployed a strong security presence at the venue, including personnel from the Uganda Police Force, the military, and traffic police to ensure the safety and smooth flow of activities throughout the competition period.
In a bid to avoid delays ahead of the official kickoff scheduled for 9:00am tomorrow, organizers also conducted physical screening of athletes at the same venue as teams arrived.
Some of the notable schools already on the ground include Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, St Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende, Uganda Martyrs High School Lubaga, St Noa Girls Secondary School, Mbale Secondary School, Nabisunsa Girls School, Buddo Secondary School, St Charles Lwanga Secondary School Kasasa, Mbogo Mixed Secondary School, and Amus College School, among others.
The championship will feature competition in 11 disciplines: hockey, rugby fifteens, badminton, table tennis, tennis, basketball (5×5 and 3×3), girls’ U20 football, netball, volleyball, and handball.
With teams now settling in and final preparations underway, anticipation is building for an exciting and competitive tournament as schools battle for national glory.
