The Managing Director of the National Water and Sewerage Corporation (NWSC), Eng. Dr Silver Mugisha, has reaffirmed the utility’s commitment to strengthening stakeholder engagement as part of efforts to improve water and sanitation service delivery across Uganda.

Addressing district and city leaders during a stakeholder engagement, Mugisha underscored the role of local leadership in driving community-based project implementation, particularly in supporting infrastructure development such as water pipeline expansion.
“Local leaders are key partners in ensuring successful implementation of water infrastructure projects across communities,” Mugisha said.

He said the corporation plans to institutionalise regular engagements with stakeholders to enhance feedback mechanisms, strengthen collaboration, and improve monitoring and evaluation of ongoing projects.
“We will institutionalise regular engagements to strengthen feedback, enhance monitoring, and improve overall service delivery,” he added.
Mugisha urged leaders to align with government efforts by sensitising communities, supporting proper land utilisation, and promoting ownership of public infrastructure to accelerate service delivery.
He cautioned against practices that could increase operational costs, warning that such actions could undermine affordability and efficiency.

“The importance of proper land utilisation cannot be overstated, especially where actions may increase operational costs and impact service delivery,” Mugisha said.
Reaffirming NWSC’s strategic direction, Mugisha said the corporation remains focused on delivering sustainable, affordable and efficient water and sanitation services, prioritising reliability before expanding to new areas.
He called for collective responsibility among leaders, communities and government to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of life for Ugandans.
