JT Jaguars secured a hard-fought victory over JKL Dolphins in a National Basketball League clash at Lugogo on Sunday.

The Jaguars emerged triumphant with a narrow 62-59 win.

The game witnessed a seesaw battle, with the Jaguars initially seizing control, enjoying a commanding 10-point lead as they entered the final quarter.

However, the Dolphins launched a spirited comeback, orchestrating a remarkable 12-2 run at the onset of the fourth quarter, eventually knotting the score at 55-55 midway through the period.

With the momentum swinging unpredictably, the lead exchanged hands until the Jaguars’ George Agasi stepped up, delivering a crucial layup with just a minute remaining on the clock.

Despite some tense moments, including Fadhil Chuma’s four missed free throws down the stretch, the Jaguars managed to maintain their narrow advantage until the final buzzer.

George Agasi finished with a game-high 15 points and an impressive 19 rebounds, securing a double-double in the process.

Also, contributing to the Jaguars’ triumph were Ian Lubwama and Mark Were, who chipped in with 14 and 12 points respectively.

JKL Dolphins put up a valiant fight, with Martin Buluma and Austin Odiwuor leading the charge with 13 points each, while Clement Kabangu contributed 12 points in a commendable display.

Despite their resilient performance, the JKL Dolphins were unable to snatch victory from the determined Jaguars.

With this hard-earned win, the JT Jaguars capped off the first round of the league in seventh place, boasting six wins and five losses, an impressive feat for a team making its debut in the top-flight competition.

JKL on the other hand, end the first round second from the bottom with just two wins in 11 games.
