Vipers SC roared back into contention for the league title with a 2-0 victory over URA FC at the Omondi stadium in Lugogo.

Despite missing Coach Livingstone Mbabazi, Vipers displayed a resilient performance, securing goals from Moses Waiswa and Karim Watambala.

The match kicked off with a swift start for Vipers, as Moses Waiswa capitalized on an opportunity just after the second minute, following a precise pass from Allan Okello.

As URA FC struggled to break through Vipers’ defense, the latter sealed their victory in the 89th minute when substitute Karim Watambala converted a free kick, catching URA’s goalkeeper, James Alitho, off-guard.

Despite enjoying more possession, URA FC failed to capitalize on their opportunities, ultimately falling short against a resilient Vipers side.

Notably, Vipers’ decision to start Milton Karisa and Yunus Sentamu on the bench showcased their tactical flexibility, sending warning signals to other title contenders.

With this crucial win, Vipers now find themselves six points behind league leaders Kitara, who have played two more games.

Meanwhile, URA FC continues to struggle, remaining winless in their last four matches across all competitions, much to the frustration of Coach David Obua.

URA FC opted to host the match at Lugogo stadium after vacating Lugazi, where renovations are underway to turn the venue into a full cricket facility.

Looking ahead, URA FC will face Express FC on April 6 at Wankulukuku, while Vipers SC will entertain UPDF at Kitende on April 5.
