Uganda Premier League has confirmed that Wakiso Giants will host Vipers at their own background in Kitende on Sunday, March 10.
This is after the Purple Sharks submitted a formal request seeking a change in the venue for their upcoming match against Vipers.
The request, aimed at tapping into the revenue generated at Vipers’ matches held at Kitende, as well as the larger attendance typically seen during night matches, was confirmed by sources within the UPL Secretariat.
The decision to relocate the match from Kakaba Kyabaggu Stadium to St. Mary’s Kitende comes amidst speculation about the financial strains facing Wakiso Giants and the potential benefits of playing at a venue known for drawing substantial crowds.
The move underscores the strategic considerations and financial imperatives influencing club decisions in the competitive landscape of Ugandan football.
Speaking on behalf of the UPL, CEO Bernard Bainamani acknowledged the receipt of Wakiso Giants’ letter and affirmed the league’s commitment to facilitating fair and transparent competition.
