Preview: Wakiso Giants Seek to Extend Momentum

Wakiso Giants will be aiming to capitalize on their previous victory over Express as they prepare to host NEC at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakissha.

The Purple Sharks secured a thrilling 3-2 win against Express, with goals from Kenneth Kimera, Shariph Kimbowa, and Samson Kigozi.

The triumph marked a significant turnaround for Wakiso Giants, who had previously suffered three consecutive defeats, including an unexpected exit from the Uganda Cup at the hands of Pakwach Young Stars, a Regional League side.

However, John Ayala Luyinda’s side remains in a precarious position in the league standings, sitting just six points above the relegation zone.

With the threat of relegation looming, Wakiso Giants understand the importance of continuing to accumulate points in their remaining fixtures.

In contrast, NEC finds themselves in a markedly different position, still harboring aspirations of clinching the league title.

Promoted from the Big League last season, NEC, under the guidance of coach Hussein Mbalangi, has surpassed expectations to currently occupy the third spot in the table with 37 points.

Although trailing leaders Kitara by six points, NEC remains firmly in contention for the title.

With Kitara set to clash against second-placed BUL in a crucial encounter, NEC will be keeping a keen eye on the result while prioritizing their own quest for victory.

This, is a race for both the league title and survival.
