The territorial police in the West Nile Region and Ayivu East CPS have detained Agunda James, a 48-year-old peasant from Obaru cell, Ombokolo ward, for the assault and murder of his wife, Chandiru Judith, aged 23. The tragic incident occurred on the night of March 1, 2024, allegedly sparked by a dispute over denied conjugal rights.
According to preliminary investigations, the couple had been sharing their marital bed without engaging in sexual relations following allegations made by the victim against her husband regarding extramarital affairs. On the fateful night, Agunda James initiated a quarrel with his wife, prompting her to leave the bed and sleep on another mattress. Enraged, the husband followed her, grabbed her, and proceeded to physically assault her, targeting her ribs. Tragically, Chandiru Judith fell to the floor and succumbed to her injuries. Subsequently, the suspect voluntarily surrendered himself to the police.
Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement officers documented the incident and conducted an examination of the victim’s body. Following the necessary procedures, the body was released to the relatives for burial arrangements.
