Friends and family members of the late controversial National Resistance Movement (NRM) Kayunga district chairperson Moses Kariisa Karangwa are scared because of the ongoing sharp fight between Jackline Birungi and the widow Florence Kirabo Karangwa over the deceased’s multibillion estate.Karangwa who died in May 2026 in the car accident was one of the richest politicians in Uganda dealing in real estate, car bond business, food supply business, media and communications business and oil and gas business.On several occasions, Karangwa facilitated NRM candidates at different levels and he was fundamental on deciding who wins which political position in the cattle corridor and parts of Busoga.In the President’s message that was read at Karangwa’s burial in Budaali Village in Bbaale Sub-county, Kayunga District, which was delivered by Milly Babirye Babalanda, the minister of Presidency, he praised Karangwa for being patriotic and a cadre of the NRM party who the country is going to miss.Even though Karangwa’s friends like Abavandimwe chief Frank Gashumba pleaded with Karangwa’s family to keep united, Ono Bwino can exclusively report that fights have already exploded and a section of children have already been blocked from accessing their father’s grave by military men who claim to have been brought by Kirabo.“The military is here to protect the family, you remember the threats the family received after Karangwa’s death, so anyone who wants to access the Bbaale home has to first get permission from the widow,” Ronald Kasamba a neighbour to Karangwa home said.Sources said that the sharp fight is mainly for a multibillion Sunset beach building in Mukono Municipality where millions of shillings are collected in rent every month.The widow directed all tanants to continue using the bank account which they were using during the days when her husband was still alive which is in the names of venna.She instructed them that after paying, they should share with her the receipts so that she also confirms.However, Birungi also gave conflicting directives to tenants to pay their monthly rent in cash to the building manager and they should make sure that they receive receipts.“We are confused on who is the rightful person to give our rent.
