Speaker Among Hails Museveni for Steering Uganda’s Consistent Growth

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, has hailed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for steering Uganda’s steady progress, saying the consistency of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a direct result of his visionary leadership.

Speaking at the launch of the NRM Kisanja Manifesto 2026–2031, Among acknowledged  the party’s track record in transforming Uganda from a subsistence economy to a country on the path to sustainable middle-income status.

“Our gathering today is a reaffirmation of our relentless commitment to a Uganda that works for each and every one of our countrymen and women,” she said, adding that the new manifesto is “a compact with Ugandans” and a roadmap for protecting the achievements the country has made under the NRM government.

Among emphasized that manifestos under the NRM are not mere political documents, but rather evidence-based pledges rooted in research and practical policy. Tracing back to the 10-Point Programme of the 1980s, she said Uganda has witnessed a consistent pattern of transformation in healthcare, education, infrastructure, and security.

“The growth and evolution of Uganda from a peasant and largely subsistence society to middle-income status is a confirmation of the competence and commitment of the NRM Government,” she declared.

She pointed to industrialization as a major achievement, with industrial parks springing up in Kampala, Wakiso, Mbale, Soroti, Gulu, Lira, Arua, Hoima, Masindi, and Jinja, among other areas. She also highlighted improvements in financial inclusion through youth, gender, and innovation funds, as well as the role of security forces in maintaining peace and stability.

Among rallied NRM leaders and supporters to take the manifesto message to every village, parish, and district, ensuring that Ugandans understand the importance of safeguarding the gains achieved under President Museveni’s leadership.

“All these are gains that we must protect. And we can only preserve them by ensuring our sure win in the elections,” she urged.

As the country gears up for the 2026 general elections, the NRM focuses  on consolidating economic growth, expanding social services, and maintaining security.
