The State House Land Office has issued an arrest order against Lawrence Kiggundu for his alleged attempt to seize a 100-acre piece of land in Nabbingo – Bataka Village, Wakiso district. This land, previously owned by the late Andrew Mugerwa, has been at the center of a contentious land dispute. Recently, Lands State Minister Sam Mayanja intervened, directing the police to prevent Kiggundu from taking control of the land. However, the involvement of the army added complexity to the situation, drawing criticism from the State House.

The State House expressed condemnation over the army’s interference in matters related to land ownership. During a statement, officials revealed that investigations led by the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) had resulted in the identification of eight charges against Kiggundu. These charges include allegations of fraud, malicious damage, and forgery, among others. The State House emphasized the importance of legal action and urged the police to apprehend Kiggundu for prosecution.

Officials urged the police to verify the claims regarding the protection of the disputed land by the army, specifically from the office of Brigadier Cham. The State House emphasized the need for clarity on this matter to determine the appropriate course of action. While discussing the situation, officials highlighted the existence of sanction files against Kiggundu, indicating the seriousness of the allegations against him.
