In a historic encounter aimed at bridging the gap between Nakifuma’s budding talent and Uganda’s football legends, Nakifuma Select faced off against a team comprising Uganda Cranes Ex-Internationals.

Played at the Kikube Playground in Nakifuma, the match marked a significant milestone as the region hosted such a prestigious event for the first time.

The game, organized by Hon. Kiwanuka Sulaiman, attracted football enthusiasts from far and wide.

Amidst an atmosphere charged with excitement and nostalgia, both teams showcased their skills, with the Ex-Internationals demonstrating their wealth of experience and the Nakifuma Select displaying their hunger for success.

The match saw moments of brilliance, with Hassan Mubiru opening the scoring for the Ex-internationals with a well-taken penalty in the 17th minute.

Dan Muzeeyi Sserunkuuma netting twice to give his side a 3-0 cushion.

Abbey Oketcho pulled one back for hosts Nakifuma in the 79th minute, but it wasn’t enough to stage a comeback against the seasoned Ex-Internationals.

Before the kickoff, curtain raiser matches set the stage for the main event, with One Touch Boys and Kateete Kids emerging victorious in their respective encounters. The thrilling matches not only entertained the crowd but also provided a platform for young talents to shine.

In his speech, Hon. Kiwanuka Sulaiman expressed his commitment to nurturing football talent in Nakifuma, drawing inspiration from his own upbringing.

He outlined his vision of transforming Nakifuma into the Brazil of Uganda and announced plans for a state-of-the-art stadium in Nsaji, a testament to his dedication to the sport.

Team Manager of the Ex-Internationals, Kalungi Edward, praised the organization of the event and promised future engagements to continue honoring the rich footballing history of Uganda.

Captain Emma Okwi, a revered Ex-International, reminisced about his roots in the region and thanked Hon. Kiwanuka for his unwavering support in bringing the community together through football.
