FUBA Postpones Friday’s NBL Games Due to Census

0

The Federation of Uganda Basketball Associations (FUBA) has announced the postponement of this Friday’s National Basketball League games, citing the upcoming National Population and Housing Census as the reason behind the decision.

Scheduled matchups, including KIU Rangers versus UCU Lady Canons in the Women’s division at 7pm, and City Oilers versus UCU Canons in the Men’s division at 9pm, were set to take place at the Lugogo Indoor Arena.

However, FUBA Vice President Hudson Ssegamwenge confirmed that the postponement was necessary due to the census.

The involvement of university teams, such as KIU and UCU, became untenable as their students were required to return home for the census period.

This rendered it impossible for the teams to assemble for the scheduled games.

Despite the Friday postponement, Saturday and Sunday games are expected to proceed as originally planned.

The National Population and Housing Census is slated to begin on the 10th of May and will span ten days, concluding on the 19th of May 2024.

In preparation for the census kickoff, Friday, the 10th of May, has been designated a public holiday, with Ugandans encouraged to remain at home to facilitate the smooth commencement of the enumeration exercise.
