Kampala Rockets bolstered their chances of avoiding relegation with a hard-fought 68-58 victory over Livingstone on Saturday at the YMCA in the National Basketball League.

The Rockets’ charge was spearheaded by Luak Ruai, who put up an impressive 28 points despite a tough night from beyond the arc, hitting just 2 of his 15 three-point attempts.

Ola Simon and Christian Ndibu provided crucial support, each contributing 11 points. Ndibu also dominated the boards, pulling down 18 rebounds to complete a vital double-double performance.

For Livingstone, Oscar Byamuhangi and Bismarck Okot led the effort with 15 and 13 points respectively, but their efforts were in vain as their team succumbed to another defeat in a challenging season.

This victory marks the fourth win in five games for the Kampala Rockets, improving their season record to 6-11.

The team is gradually distancing itself from the relegation zone but faces a tough road ahead.

Their remaining five games will see them take on formidable opponents such as the KIU Titans, Our Saviour, JT Jaguars, City Oilers, and Nam Blazers.

Livingstone, on the other hand, have managed only five wins in 18 games, making them strong candidates for relegation in their debut season in the top flight.
