Kabale, Uganda | THE INDEPENDENT | Robert Musekura, a 37-year-old teacher in Kabale district, who went missing last week, has been found dead. His body was discovered floating in River Kiruruma.
Musekura, an Entrepreneur subject teacher at Buranga Secondary School in Kamuganguzi sub-county, Kabale Trinity College, and a lecturer at Kabale University in Kabale municipality disappeared on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
He was a resident of Kabahesi village, Rweene parish, Buhara sub-county, Kabale district. His wife identified only as Joanna, and his sister, Emily Mbabazi, revealed that Musekura had organized and packed his academic credentials before expressing his weariness with life. Upon his departure, they discovered a note in which he threatened to end his life.
Despite their efforts to trace him, they were unable to locate him. Dalton Naturinda, the head teacher of Buranga Secondary School, expressed shock when Musekura’s body was found floating in River Kiruruma in Kabale municipality on Sunday night. Naturinda emphasized that there were no visible signs of problems or depression when Musekura was at school.
Mbabazi added that Musekura had no criminal record or known outstanding bank loans that might have led to such a tragic decision. Local authorities, along with the assistance of the community, retrieved the body, which was subsequently transported to Kabale Regional Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. As of now, the police have not released an official statement regarding the circumstances surrounding Musekura’s death.
