Museveni appoints son, Gen Muhoozi as CDF in latest changes in UPDF

President Museveni has in latest changes in the army appointed First Son, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba as the new Chief of Defence Forces in the UPDF.

The changes announced on Thursday night saw Gen Wilson Mbadi dropped as CDF and appointed state Minister for trade.

In the changes, Lt Gen Sam Okiding was appointed the deputy Chief of Defence Forces to replace Gen Pete Elwelu who has been appointed as a senior presidential advisor.

Others are Gen Jack Bakasumba who has been appointed as the UPDF Joint Chief of Staff to replace Gen Leopold Kyanda who has been appointed a defence attache.

The SFC commander, Brig David Mugisha has been promoted to Major General while Col Asaph Nyakikuru has been promoted to brigadier.
