Nam Blazers will unleash their latest addition, Jimmy Williams, in their highly anticipated National Basketball League clash against the UCU Canons at Lugogo on Friday.

Williams, an American guard, rejoined the Blazers during the recently concluded mid-season transfer window, marking their third acquisition alongside Durocher Lukusa and Arthur Wanyoto.

Williams made a brief but impactful appearance last season, playing in two games and averaging an impressive 22 points per game.

Despite his stellar performance, the Blazers withdrew at the end of the regular season in protest of a FUBA rule then that a league champion would not represent the country at the Basketball Africa League.

His return is seen as a significant boost for the team as they aim to challenge the reigning champions, the City Oilers, who have recently lost their long-serving players, Jimmy Enabu and James Okello.

Known for his exceptional shooting ability and playmaking skills, Williams is expected to be a crucial asset for the Nam Blazers who are keen to avenge their earlier defeat to the UCU Canons, who triumphed 65-53 in their first-round encounter.

Since that loss, the Nam Blazers have been on a winning streak, securing five straight victories against KCCA Panthers, Ndejje Angels, JT Jaguars, Dmark Power, and Livingstone.

With a current record of 13 wins out of 16 games, the Blazers are in a strong position. In contrast, Nicholas Natuhereza’s UCU Canons have faced a tougher season, with six losses so far.
