The International Athletics Federation (FIA) has announced that the 2024 Paris Olympics gold medalists will receive cash prizes.
According to the race organizing committee, $2.4 million will be distributed to 48 male and female runners. The Olympic performers have not been getting any cash prize in the Olympics for 128 years now.
The gold medalist will receive $50,000 each. Meanwhile, officials confirmed that the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, USA, will be the start of distributing funds to the silver and bronze medal winners
The 2024 Olympic Games in Paris France will run from 26 July, to 11 August.
