President Museveni commends Fallen President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi


The Iranian Ambassador to Uganda, Majid Saffar, has assured that the bilateral relationship between Uganda and Iran will remain strong despite the tragic death of President Raisi.

The Iranian President, along with his Foreign Minister and other officials, passed away while on duty in a mountainous region.

Ambassador Saffar made these remarks during the 2024 Media Workshop held at the Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

“The partnership between Uganda and Iran is robust and will continue to flourish,” Ambassador Saffar stated.

“We are dedicated to upholding the agreements between our nations and are committed to enhancing our cooperation across various sectors, including trade, agriculture, and infrastructure development.”

Following the tragic incident of the plane crash, speculation arose about a possible assassination, but Ambassador Saffar dismissed these rumors.

“Death is death,” Saffar stated, emphasizing, “He died while on duty. We are not accusing anyone for the death of our president.”

“We have received numerous messages of sympathy from around the world,” he said.
