Rwothomio Downs Gaddafi As NEC Go Third

Cromwell Rwothomio scored his eighth goal in the Uganda Premier League (UPL) this season as NEC registered a 1-0 win against Gaddafi in Jinja on Saturday, March 9, 2024.

Rwothomio scored for NEC in the 58th minute of the game. The striker headed home off a Joseph Dhata cross to put the visitors ahead at the Jinja Arena.

The former Vipers striker has been in fine form this season, since he left Kitende to work with Hussein Mbalangu at NEC. He has so far scored eight league goals, with nine games left to play before the end of the season.

Rwothomio scored a brace against KCCA in the first round. He’s also got a goal each against UPDF (home and away), URA, Express, Vipers, and Gaddafi.

The Die Hards now move to 34 points after 20 games, six below table leaders Kitara (40) and just five below second-placed BUL (39) – misplacing Vipers (32) from the third position.

Meanwhile, the Gaddafi loss keeps the Soldier Boys in the 13th position on the 16-team table with 18 points from 19 games – just two points and one place above the red line.
