The Kabaka’s birthday run is slated for Sunday April 7, under the theme “Men are stars in the fight against HIV/AIDS to save the Girl Child ”.

Katikkiro Mayiga has called upon politicians and their supporters to also join the fight against HIV/AIDS.

He says politics will not be possible if AIDS is persistent, killing all Ugandans saying even their target of taking leadership will be less effective.

“If all Ugandans die because of AIDS, who will vote for you and who will you lead? Let’s fight HIV/AIDS for the good of our country. If we reach 2030 when HIV is no more in Uganda, Kabaka, Buganda and Uganda at large will have a reason to celebrate,” he says.

Meanwhile, Katikkiro Mayiga emphasized that Buganda Kingdom is open to everyone regardless of their political affiliation.

Last week, the Katikkiro received the Leader of Opposition in Parliament (LOP) Joel Ssenyonyi together with the National Unity Platform (NUP) Members of Parliament and leaders of different levels. On behalf of NUP, Ssenyonyi handed over sh21m for the Kabaka’s birthday run.
