Stanbic Bank Named Best Investment Bank in Uganda

Stanbic Bank Uganda has been named the best investment bank in Uganda at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2026, an international recognition announced by the London-based financial publication on July 17, 2026.

The award comes as the bank, the flagship subsidiary of Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL), marks 35 years of operations in Uganda.

Stanbic Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer, Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa, said the recognition reflects the role of the bank’s Corporate and Investment Banking (CIB) division in supporting businesses and financing major development projects.

“For us, Corporate and Investment Banking is where our purpose, ‘Uganda is our home; we drive her growth,’ comes alive. It is through this platform that we support local corporates to expand, create jobs, and contribute to the economy,” Kalifungwa said.

He added that the bank’s partnership with government and private sector players has enabled it to participate in financing projects that support national development.

“As we celebrate 35 years of service, this recognition from Euromoney is a significant milestone. It reflects our journey from inception to becoming a key player in Uganda’s financial sector and reinforces our commitment to supporting shared growth,” he said.

The award recognises Stanbic Bank Uganda’s work in arranging financial solutions for businesses, including infrastructure projects and financing for key sectors of the economy.

Paul Muganwa, Executive Director and Head of Corporate and Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank Uganda, attributed the recognition to the efforts of the CIB team.

“This accolade reflects the expertise and commitment of our CIB team in addressing complex financial needs and developing solutions that support our clients’ growth,” Muganwa said.

The Euromoney Awards for Excellence recognise leading financial institutions globally based on performance, innovation, and contribution to their respective markets.
