Unknown people have raided Biiso health center IV in Buliisa district and made off with two lightning arresters that had been installed at the health facility.
Dr. Peter Otim, the in charge of the health facility explained that on Monday this week, they were shocked when they found that the lightning arresters installed on the general ward that is currently undergoing construction were missing.
He however declined to comment further on the matter stating that the matter has been reported at Biiso Police station and that it is under investigations.
A nurse at the health facility who spoke to URN on condition of anonymity explained that, it is not known how the thugs accessed the health facility premises to steal the lightning arresters yet the facility is fenced and has guards.
Denis Oyewa, the Biiso sub county LCIII Chairperson has condemned the act tasking the public to protect the health center property. He stated that by stealing the lightning arresters, lives of patients at the facility will be at stake especially during the rainy season.
Norah Bigirwa, the Buliisa woman Member of Parliament noted that it is unfortunate for thugs to expose the lives of patients at the health facility and tasked the management of the health center together with the Police to thoroughly investigate the matter.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertin region Police spokesperson says that there is an organized group of people stealing lightning arresters in the area. He says Police has embarked on the hunt for the suspects to ensure that they are arrested and prosecuted accordingly.
In September 2021, unidentified thugs raided Kihungya Health Center II in Kihungya village, Kihungya sub-county of Buliisa district and made off with seven solar panels leaving the health center and staff quarters in darkness.
