According to reports from the Uganda Police Force, the Joint Anti-Terrorism Taskforce (JATT), in collaboration with the District Security Committee in Buyende district, has detained an individual named Ndalike Hassan Mustafa, also known as Wakwima Dirian. Mustafa, identified as a former soldier who abandoned the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) in 2016, reportedly aligned himself with the ranks of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels, operating under the command of Ali Isma, an ADF Commander.

Allegedly, the suspected ADF rebel, Mustafa, was apprehended after illicitly entering the country in February 2024. It is reported that he issued threats to launch an attack on concert attendees and revelers at a music event held in Ikanda Sub-county, located within Buyende district. Subsequently, the suspect was transferred to the custody of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) for further interrogation and management.

In response to the arrest, SCP Enanga Fred, the spokesperson for the Uganda Police Force, stated that the incident underscores the consequences of betrayal. He emphasized the steadfast commitment of the JATT and all territorial units in identifying and holding accountable individuals who betray their oath to safeguard the nation.

SCP Enanga Fred remarked, “We cannot tolerate such acts of betrayal of trust, and we continue to encourage all security personnel, past or present, to remain vigilant in our mission to protect and defend our country and its citizens.”
