Olympic Day Tooke Run 2026 1ABOUT THE OLYMPIC DAY TOOKE RUN Organized in a historic three-year partnership between the Uganda Olympic Committee (UOC), the Presidential Initiative on Banana Industrial Development (PIBID), and the Banana Industrial Research and Development Centre (BIRDC), the run is an internationally recognized event celebrating fitness, unity, and national pride. Running under the global theme “Move, Learn, Discover with Nutrition-Care,” the event champions the innovative value addition of Uganda’s highland banana crop through the premium, scientifically-backed, gluten-free Tooke brand—advocating for sustainable agriculture and specialized sports nutrition.
Proceeds from the registration kits (priced at UGX 35,000) and corporate partnerships are earmarked for two legacy pathways:  Sports Excellence: Funding and preparing elite Ugandan youth athletes for international competitive pathways, including the upcoming Youth Olympic Games in Dakar, Senegal. Nutritional Legacy Program: Raising critical scientific nutritional support for vulnerable children and community groups across Uganda, while directly empowering rural banana farmers in the region through structured market linkages.
The main event on June 20, 2026, in Bushenyi, will feature a 21KM Half Marathon (starting in Mitooma District), a 10KM Fun Run, and a 5KM Fitness Walk, with His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expected to grace the event as the Chief Runner.
