France’s Ambassador to Uganda, Xavier Sticker, has reaffirmed France’s commitment to supporting Uganda’s socio-economic development during a meeting with Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gen. Odongo Jeje Abubakher, in Kampala.

Ambassador Sticker announced France’s intention to invest a significant sum of $3 billion, equivalent to 12 trillion UGX, in Uganda over the next three years. These investments will be strategically distributed across key sectors, including agriculture and oil and gas, aiming to foster sustainable growth and prosperity in the country.

Both parties emphasized their shared commitment to strengthening ties across various sectors of mutual interest during the meeting.

Gen. Odongo expressed Uganda’s gratitude to France for its generous investment commitment, highlighting the deep-rooted friendship and partnership between the two nations. He noted that this significant contribution would greatly contribute to Uganda’s development goals and enhance the well-being of its citizens.

In addition to the meeting with Ambassador Sticker, Gen. Odongo also met with Monzer Selim, the Ambassador of Egypt to Uganda.

Ambassador Selim congratulated Uganda for successfully hosting three significant summits – the IGAD, NAM, and G77 – in January 2024. He praised Uganda’s commitment to regional and international cooperation, highlighting its role as a beacon of stability and progress in Africa.
