Parliament will hold a special sitting on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. to pay tribute to the late Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, one of Uganda’s longest-serving public servants.
In a statement, Parliament announced that the special session will be dedicated to honouring the former Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business, who passed away recently.
“There will be a special sitting of Parliament on Monday, 20th July 2026 at 10:00 a.m. to pay tribute to the late Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali,” the statement read in part.
Members of Parliament are expected to reflect on Gen. Ali’s life, public service, and legacy, recognising his decades of service to Uganda in various capacities, including as a legislator, Cabinet minister, military officer, and former Second Deputy Prime Minister.
Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali represented Adjumani West County in Parliament for many years and remained one of the country’s most experienced political leaders. At the time of his death, he had recently retired from his role as Second Deputy Prime Minister.
Parliament has invited the public and all stakeholders to follow the proceedings as lawmakers honour the veteran statesman for his contribution to national development and public service.
The House is expected to adjourn after the tributes to allow Members of Parliament and the public to pay their final respects.
