Police in Kazo district have arrested a police officer and a woman for allegedly conspiring to murder the woman’s husband.
The suspects, identified as IP Steven Bebaze, a community liaison officer attached to Kazo central police station, and Kyokuhaire Zam, were arrested after their plot to kill Kyokuhaire’s husband was uncovered.
According to police reports, the two had approached individuals to carry out the murder of Musinguzi Kasim, a taxi driver operating along the Mpara–Kazo route. However, their plan was exposed when the people they contacted reported the conspiracy to authorities.
It is alleged that Bebaze gave UGX 1.3 million to Hadad Kabito, a stage blocker on the Kazo–Mpara route, to execute the crime. Instead, Kabito alerted his superior, Akim Mutahi, the chairperson of the Kazo–Mubende stage, who later coordinated with police to expose the suspects.
Their cooperation led to the arrest of Bebaze and Kyokuhaire, who are currently in police custody. Bebaze has since been transferred to the Rwizi Police Region for further investigation, while Kyokuhaire remains detained at Kazo Police Station.
SP Samson Kasasira the Rwizi Region police spokesperson confirmed the arrests, saying investigations are underway to gather more evidence and ensure justice is served.
