The Public Relations Association of Uganda (PRAU) has launched a fundraising drive to raise Shs 800 million for the establishment of a permanent home for the country’s public relations community. The initiative was unveiled through the 2026 PRAU Run, with the PRAU governing council kick-starting the campaign with a contribution of Shs 100 million.Held under the theme “Run for the PRAU Home,” this year’s run is part of a series of activities marking the Association’s Golden Jubilee since its founding in 1976.Launching the event, PRAU vice president Ronald Beinomugisha said the run goes beyond fitness, positioning it as a unifying initiative aimed at shaping the future of the profession.“As we celebrate 50 years, this run is more than a fitness event. It is a statement of our unity and vision for the future of our Association. The proceeds will help establish a home that reflects our growth, resilience, and commitment to excellence in public relations,” he said.Beinomugisha added that the initiative is part of a broader effort to create a lasting legacy for the PR profession in Uganda. He commended participants, sponsors, and partners who have supported previous editions of the run.He called on PR professionals, students, corporate partners, and communication enthusiasts to participate in the upcoming event, which will feature 5km and 10km routes through Kololo on May 22, 2026, starting at Sidelines Bar and Restaurant.Participation kits will be available at Shs 40,000 for PRAU paid-up members and Shs 50,000 for non-members.In addition to the run, PRAU recently concluded its 50th annual general meeting in March 2026, where it introduced digital membership IDs and outlined a lineup of activities for the Golden Jubilee celebrations scheduled for the second half of the year.“Beyond fitness, the event provides a platform for networking and reinforces PRAU’s commitment to community, professional growth, and legacy building. All funds raised through registration fees, sponsorships, and donations will go towards establishing the PRAU Home,” Beinomugisha said.
