The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) has urged teachers nationwide to familiarize themselves with the recently released sample papers designed for competency-based assessments under the new curriculum.

In a statement issued on Monday, UNEB clarified that these sample papers are tailored for the UCE end-of-cycle competency-based assessment within the new lower secondary school curriculum, with the aim is to acquaint both teachers and students with the question format of competency-based assessments.

“We implore teachers to provide guidance to students and devise similar or related scenarios and questions to expose learners to a diverse range of test items,” emphasized the statement.

UNEB has made available sample papers covering 36 subjects across humanities, sciences, vocational studies, and languages. These papers are accessible through the UNEB portal for all examination centers.

In the humanities category, sample papers for History, Geography, CRE, and IRE have been released. For sciences, papers covering Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and general science for visually impaired students are available.

In the vocational category, UNEB has released sample papers for Agriculture, ICT, Art & Design, Nutrition and Food Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Physical Education.

Additionally, UNEB has outlined plans to distribute hard copy booklets to all schools nationwide, especially those without examination centers, ensuring broader access to these resources.

About the New Curriculum
