Hamz Stadium Hosts Successful Climax of Kampala USSSA Qualifiers

The USSSA Kampala Region Qualifiers 2026 successfully climaxed on Tuesday at Hamz Stadium Nakivubo, marking the end of a highly competitive and well-organized championship that brought together over 40 schools across multiple disciplines.

This year’s edition stood out as one of the most organized in recent times, with a colourful closing ceremony attended by USSSA President Justus Mugisha, Vice President Harriet Apolot, Head of Communication and Marketing Omario Bosco, Hamz Stadium Chairperson Rogers Mugisha, and several headteachers from participating schools.

The week-long competition featured a wide range of sports, including badminton, basketball, hockey, table tennis, lawn tennis, football, and netball (U17), showcasing the depth of talent across Kampala schools.

Kibuli SS emerged as one of the most dominant schools, excelling in multiple disciplines such as badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis, and basketball (boys). Kawempe Muslim SS reaffirmed their supremacy in girls’ football by successfully defending their title, while Lubiri SS claimed top honours in boys’ football.

The qualifiers also highlighted individual brilliance, with several athletes earning Most Valuable Player (MVP) accolades and other individual recognitions for their outstanding performances.

With the regional stage concluded, attention now shifts to the national championships, where Kampala will be represented by top-performing schools in various disciplines.
